A bit about process: I work in circles. Or in this case, squares. I start with sketches and notes, then make some things, look at them, read, make more notes and sketches, then more samples, evaluate the progress, read some more... Albert Einstein said if he had an hour to solve a problem, he'd spend 55 minutes defining the problem and alternatives and 5 minutes solving it. I agree.
