Lost and Found: Residency

With all the summer travel and visits, I've found it difficult to concentrate on the Engram series. Rather than spend time applying for residencies that I could/would not do, I declared my own, and dedicate the next 14 days to my work.

My intention is to go deeper into the kinetic text work that records the process of memory, and how that shapes my self identity. It began with the story my mother told of her first experience with textiles. The work I produce in this residency will describe the trajectory of my next body of work, through the process of natural dyeing.

Space/Place: days one and two (August 1-2) were directed at putting aside other projects, out-of-sight-out-of-mind! I know it will be difficult to concentrate when this is also my home. Yet, it is also familiar, and that is important in this work of determining where the work is going. The preparation of physical space is also the preparation of psychological and emotional place. Ready, set, GO!
